It's my favorite time of year. Spring! The Canadian Geese are starting to fly in and the days are getting longer. We are busy at the greenhouse trying to get everything transplanted. Only 100 more basket to go out of over 5000 yay! A good variety of basket stuffers and landscape plants are putting their roots down into their fresh soil but there are still many more thousands to go! We have a tasty herb crop already growing and the hanging tomatoes are enjoying the longer days. This year we planted them in red hanging baskets. It has been proven that red pots or mulch help ripen tomatoes faster and a bigger yield and after all it's Canada's 150th Birthday so why not celebrate with some red. The perennials roots and bulbs have arrived and our staff is excited to switch to planting something new. Everyone is busy getting the greenhouse cleaned, setting up fertilizer displays and garden decor as we inch ever so closer to our spring opening April 3rd (or earlier if the snow melts faster!). The count down is on! We can't wait to share all the new plants we have been carefully growing since February. Watch for our next post about seeding and ideas to get your kids interested in gardening!
